Counseling is a process of helping students by assisting them in making decisions and changing behavior. School counselors work with all students, school staff, families, and members of the community as an integral part of the education program. School counseling programs promote school success through a focus on: academic achievement; prevention and intervention activities; advocacy; and social, emotional, and career development.

West Deptford High School guidance counselors are certified, specially trained professionals who work in conjunction with faculty, administrators, and outside service-providers to promote student learning.
Students are assigned to a specific counselor at the beginning of their freshman year. The name of their counselor will appear at the bottom of their schedule. This counselor will follow them throughout their years at WDHS. Students may participate in guidance services on an individual basis as well as in small and large groups.
Students can make appointments to see their counselors by completing an appointment request form in the guidance office. Parents are also welcome to meet with their child's counselor. Please call the guidance office to set up an appointment. Counselors can also be reached by email. Simply click on the counselor’s name below.
